Calligrapher Profile Yokoyama Madoka
Graduated from the Department of Japanese Painting at Joshibi University of Art and Design, Yokoyama is part of the board member of the Contemporary Ink Painting Association, the Suiboku-ga Association. She has received numerous awards such as the Encouragement award from the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and the Governor of Tokyo Award at the Gensui-Ten, a public exhibition of Suiboku-ga.
Yokoyama exhibited in Elementum Exhibition in Melbourne, Her works, characterized by delicate yet bold strokes and elegant use of negative space, bring a stylish and modern approach to traditional ink art, seamlessly fitting into contemporary interiors. As a leading artist in modern Sumi ink painting, she has brought fresh, innovative perspectives to the art form. Her works has appeared in Suntory’s commercial advertisements.
