GINZA MOTOJI

From a single thread, person to person.

Ginza Motoji has always embraced new challenges. We want people to feel happy, confident, and proud when wearing kimono, and for that joy to reach the artisans who create each piece. By bringing wearers and makers together, we are working to build a bright future for Japan’s textile traditions.

Ginza Motoji is a kimono store in Ginza specializing in kimono made in Japan. Committed to craftsmanship “from a single thread,” and to working with makers it knows personally, it offers carefully selected pieces, from works by Living National Treasures to items it has seen and handled firsthand at production regions and workshops across Japan. When the people who wear kimono shine, their smiles make the makers shine in turn. By connecting the two, Ginza Motoji keeps taking on new challenges in pursuit of its unwavering dream of brightening the future of Japan’s textile culture. Beyond conveying the appeal of kimono, Ginza Motoji also leads projects with artists that go beyond the boundaries of traditional crafts, rethinking local materials and the relationship between people and nature, and broadening the reach of kimono culture.

The items introduced here were designed based on Ginza Motoji’s activities.
