Hakuichi

This tableware is made with the hope that the beauty of the exceptional gold leaf craftsmanship can be felt in modern life. The collection is a symbol of "Hakuichi of Technology", with metal foil stretched uniformly to the limit of thinness and carefully pasted together one by one by Hakuichi's skilled craftsmen. Please enjoy the elegant shimmer of gold.

Founded in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, Hakuichi was the first company in Japan to produce Kanazawa foil crafts for daily use using foil, which was once used as an art material, and to spread its appeal widely.

While inheriting the beauty of foil produced by skilled craftsmen, they incorporate new sensibilities, ideas, and modern perspectives to create new value in decoration using foil in a variety of fields and pass it on to the future.

More than 99% of Japan's gold leaf is produced in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture. It was cultivated in the reign of Maeda Toshiie, the first lord of the Kaga Domain, and developed into an outstanding craftsmanship as a result of continued foiling in hidden places even when the shogunate issued a ban on foiling.

Today, gold leaf is one of Kanazawa's representative traditional crafts. Kuniko Asano, the founder of Hakuichi, started creating Kanazawa gold leaf daily life crafts in 1975 with the idea of using gold leaf, which had been used for Buddhist altarware and works of art, for everyday items.
