Oriental Modern Tea Caddy
Over a long period of time, Japanese metal craftsmen polish stainless steel to create this tea caddy. Mirror finish with a beautiful luster is one of the typical surface finishes of stainless steel. Its metallic-like shine not only enhances the appearance of the product, but also makes the surface of the material smoother.
The upper part of the inner diameter is slightly narrowed to prevent matcha powder from scattering when the lid is opened and closed. Matcha powder is light and very delicate.
This tea caddy is made of thick 18/8 high quality stainless steel by experienced craftsmen who have studied the delicate matcha powder to ensure that it can be stored.
It is very difficult to create a mirror finish while adjusting the amount of force and heat applied so as not to deform due to the heat from grinding, and it is a very sophisticated process that depends on the skill of the craftsman.
The lid can be easily removed and is double-layered with a lid inside as well. The tea leaves stay fresh.
This product is produced in Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, a metalworking town famous for its stainless steel products.
Katsuichi Tomita (metalworking craftsman)
Born in Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, a city of metalworking, he built a small press factory there. He created his own original stainless steel kyusu (teapot).
He passed away in 2012, but his lifelong fascination with Japanese craftsmanship and his soulful creations will live on forever.
Kazuya Endo
Born in Tokyo in 1959, Endo founded Blanche A.S.S. Ltd. in 1988, the predecessor of his current business. Later renamed Blanche Associe Inc., he has been active in private product development for local industries, consulting for large-scale exhibitions, theme events, and seminars.
The Oriental Modern kyusu is a product of collaboration between the late Katsuichi Tomita's will of craftsmanship and Endo's modern sense.
