Toshifumi Momose

It has long been said that spirits dwell within trees. Trees that we plant, nurture, cut, and use have continuously provided blessings of happiness to humankind, supporting a sustainable way of life. Using woodturning lathes and techniques, we craft these precious materials into everyday wooden products that fit seamlessly into daily life.

Each piece is carefully turned, respecting the unique characteristics of the wood. We hope you will enjoy the natural expressions of each tree, as they are. Please enjoy watching these products grow and change with time as you use them every day.

Carving anything round. Using a woodturning lathe, we create anything round, such as wooden plates. In 2011, Toshifumi Momose, who trained under a traditional craftsman, founded this endeavor with the goal of "creating happiness and inspiration through woodturning." We are expanding our possibilities by collaborating with previously unexplored industries and combining different materials.

In 2013, we opened moyocami gallery to introduce products created in collaboration with other industries. We continue to take on challenges every day, striving to bring joy to many people.

The history of Shizuoka woodturning is long, with the first establishment of a woodturning business by Yonekichi Sakai, a specialty wood merchant, in the first year of Genji (1864). The characteristic of Shizuoka woodturning is that mechanization has enabled the mass production of small items and stair railings. Around 1950, the production of woodturning products for export to the United States began, leading to an increase in craftsmen.

Today, a wide variety of items are made in small quantities. Among them, Toshifumi Momose values handcraftsmanship and combines it with fields that have not been previously explored. The workshop, located at the foot of the mountains in Shizuoka in a renovated tea factory, continues to create new things every day.
