I hope that you will feel the effect of Itokake Mandala/String Art, which reflects the viewer's heart. I feel that the thread itself has power as a symbol of spun life and time. Psychologically, it is said that the mandala pattern gives us a sense of integration of scattered thoughts as the figure appears. When I create a piece of artwork, I feel as if I am meditating as I rhythmically and mindlessly hang the threads according to mathematical rules, and eventually my mind calms down and my spirit becomes well-organized.
The reason why the world appears differently each time you see the work is because it reflects the viewer's current state of mind. I think this is the charm of Itokake Mandala. Please enjoy the multi-layered world woven by the threads.
Thread Hanging / Artist Artwork Therapist
In my exploration of art that affects the mind, I realized the healing power of the Itokake Mandala, and I am expanding the possibilities of Itokake into many fields.
I have designed jewelry for corporations, costume jewelry for movies and concerts, published picture books, and worked as an artist. I have also been involved in international exchange art events.
In 2020, I formed a unit of thread hanging artists “ITOXITO Itokakeito” and is currently developing a brand.
Won the Grand Prix at a public exhibition for a large-scale installation work. I have produced texts on thread hanging, held lectures, and exhibited and sold his works at department stores and hotels.
Graduated from Tama Art University with a major in Japanese painting. Completed JIPATT Clinical Art Therapy Training.
The work is produced in Kyoto, Japan, using hand-dyed silk yarns, Japanese painting materials, and mica as the main materials. Motifs inspired by Japanese literature such as The Tale of Genji and the changing seasons of Japan are expressed in soft Japanese harmony of colors.
The Washi Ito Mandala series is created mainly from natural materials that can be returned to the earth.
I have traveled to washi production areas throughout Japan to research washi threads and raw materials. The pattern is threaded with Mino washi thread from Gifu Prefecture, and then finished in washi form using the handmade washi technique, creating the unique translucency of the artist's original works. The work is produced mainly with naturally occurring herb-dyeing techniques, such as indigo dyeing, Akane dyeing, Kariyasu dyeing, and Murasaki root dyeing. Please enjoy the healing world created by the tones of nature-derived colors.
