Suina Ogihara

This is a palm-sized container characterized by colors reminiscent of the four seasons in Japan and shimmering mother-of-pearl inlay. The exterior features a design that evokes the feeling of the seasons, utilizing a technique called "kawari-nuri" (variations of lacquer). Each piece is crafted by hand using traditional Japanese materials, specifically lacquer, making every work a unique creation.

I create works using lacquer, a traditional Japanese material, aiming to produce pieces that naturally blend into the lives of younger generations while exuding a subtle glow. I would be delighted if those who are unfamiliar with lacquer develop an interest in this beautiful and captivating material.
