Sanukite: The "Gemstone of Sound" Born in Kagawa
This unique stone brings the soothing "sound of nature" into your everyday life.
Sanukite is a type of volcanic rock that produces sound when struck. Its tone is soft and clear like flowing water, distinct from the sounds of metal or glass. Even at a low volume, its mysterious resonance reaches the ear effortlessly, creating an exceptionally pleasant listening experience.
Wind chimes are a beloved symbol of summer in Japan. For these Sanukite wind chimes, craftsmen carefully select two pieces of stone with particularly beautiful tones.
The combination of these two layers of sound creates an even softer, more harmonious presence, blending naturally into your living space.
It is said that stone instruments may be the oldest musical instruments in human history.
We have reimagined the unique tonal qualities of Sanukite in a modern form for you to enjoy.

Our Sanukite project is rooted in the expertise of Hirai Sekisan Co., Ltd., a stone materials manufacturer founded in 1927 (Showa 2).
With nearly a century of experience working closely with Kagawa’s stones — including quarrying, stone processing, masonry, and civil engineering — Hirai Sekisan launched a line of Sanukite lifestyle goods.
Building upon this know-how, Connect Teian LLC was founded in 2024 (Reiwa 6) to specialize in promoting and utilizing the charm of Sanukite.
We are an organization that addresses modern social and mental health issues — challenges born of rapid mechanization and digitalization — through the natural solution of "sound."
By focusing on these contemporary issues, we strive to propose solutions through the natural resonance of Sanukite.
With the motto "Proposals for the Future," we actively develop and sell Sanukite lifestyle products and organize "sound events" both within and outside of Kagawa Prefecture.
We deeply value culture, history, the traditions and perspectives they nurture, and the emotions they inspire.
Through this lens, we continually pursue better ways to share and propose meaningful experiences.
This product is crafted in Kagawa Prefecture.
Surrounded by rich and tranquil nature — sky, mountains, and sea — Sanukite is formed over a span of approximately 14 million years.

Interestingly, about 99% of the world's Sanukite can only be found in Kagawa.
Its influence is evident even in the landscape: mountains like the iconic Mount Iino, known affectionately as "Onigiri-yama" (Rice Ball Mountain), were shaped by the presence of this stone.
Sanukite was created by volcanic eruptions in the Seto Inland Sea. Its dense hardness protected mountain peaks from erosion, allowing Kagawa’s distinctive low-lying mountains and expansive, beautiful skies to emerge over the ages.
Thanks to this unique geography, the skies in Kagawa are famously wide and clear — perfect for stargazing.
