About Kanazawa Leaf

Kanazawa leaf, famously used in Kinkaku-ji (the Golden Pavilion), originates from Kanazawa, the leading gold leaf production region in Japan. Thanks to its climate, natural conditions, and centuries of history, Kanazawa has developed into a globally renowned center of craftsmanship.

To faithfully reproduce the unique colors of each character, this model primarily uses silver leaf, rather than gold. Like gold leaf, silver leaf is a traditional material requiring exceptional skill. Silver ingots are hammered to a thickness of approximately 0.1 μm (1/10,000th of a millimeter), then delicately colored by master artisans with great care.
Because each step is performed entirely by hand, every piece possesses its own distinctive character and individuality.
