MIZEN

MIZEN creates garments that place traditional Japanese craftsmanship at the center—drawing on the refined techniques found in kimono fabrics from across the country, including the famed Oshima Tsumugi of Amami.
Each piece is designed around the standardized 38cm width of kimono bolts, preserving the fabric’s natural linear beauty.
The finishing reflects the skills of individual artisans, allowing the memory of handwork to live on in every garment.
This philosophy is most vividly embodied in the KIMONO Knit Series—an iconic expression of where tradition and innovation quietly converge.

MIZEN transforms traditional Japanese craftsmanship into contemporary clothing.
Rooted in Japan’s cultural appreciation for subtlety and negative space, our creations celebrate quiet beauty, artisanal skill, and the unseen stories behind each piece—presenting a new vision of luxury from Japan to the world.
MIZEN collaborates with 12 production regions across Japan, including Oshima Tsumugi from Amami, Yuki Tsumugi from Ibaraki and Tochigi, and Ushikubi Tsumugi from Hakusan, Ishikawa, to help preserve and evolve traditional techniques.
Because kimono fabrics follow a standardized format nationwide, each region has refined its own weaving and dyeing techniques.
Differences in climate, soil, and native plants across Japan give rise to colors and textures that reflect the beauty of each region’s natural environment.
