Tanemura Woodworks
Kumiko, the traditional Japanese technique of assembling wooden pieces to create intricate geometric patterns, has long been passed down as a craft for architectural fittings. Drawing on this heritage, we develop and present products that harmonize with contemporary lifestyles.
The Hana Kumiko Series was created by adapting the auspicious Shippo (seven-treasure) kumiko pattern into items that bring elegance and warmth to scenes of fashion and dining. These products are the result of a collective effort, bringing together Japanese materials and the refined skills of artisans.

Items such as the Light Box, clocks, frames, and coasters allow people to enjoy the beauty of traditional kumiko craftsmanship easily and naturally within everyday life. We invite you to experience the delicate patterns born from Japan’s time-honored art of wood joinery.

Tanemura Tategu Woodworks is a company with a 69-year history specializing in the production of wooden architectural fittings and furniture. Our workshop is based in Hirano Ward, Osaka—a district where historic townscapes still remain today.
In addition to custom-making wooden fittings and furniture, we develop original products under the brand TANEMOKU, guided by our desire to preserve traditional wood-joining techniques in forms that suit modern life. These products incorporate kumiko craftsmanship while remaining relevant and accessible today.
The area of Kire, Hirano Ward—where our company is located—was historically part of Settsu Province and lay along the border with Kawachi Province. Hirano is said to have been a self-governing city during the Sengoku period, comparable to Sakai.
Even today, traces of the former moated settlement remain, and people interested in history continue to visit the streets of Kire. We have been working in this historic town for nearly 70 years, carrying on the techniques of traditional wooden fittings and craftsmanship.
Once a year, a local event called “Tomoshibi no Yūbe” (Evening of Lights) is held, during which temples, shrines, and other historic buildings are illuminated and opened to the public. Upon request, our company has crafted and exhibited large lanterns for this event, welcoming many visitors.
