If your pet dislikes conventional brushing, the reason is often the bristles. Standard comb-style brushes can pull and scratch, triggering resistance — especially in dogs, whose skin is said to be one-third the thickness of human skin. This brush uses the same naturally frizzy, uneven broomcorn bristles as Takakura Kogei's renowned clothes broom, adapted specifically for grooming. The sensation is closer to being stroked than brushed.

From Cashmere to Coats
Takakura Kogei's Nambu Broom has long been trusted for tending to the nap of cashmere sweaters and lifting dust from carpets without static. The same properties — gentle contact, low static, pesticide-free natural material — make it equally well-suited for pet coats. Long-haired pets in particular can be groomed without resistance, as the soft bristles glide through fur rather than catching it.

Safe by Material
The broomcorn used is cultivated in Kunohe Village, Iwate Prefecture, without pesticides, and bound with silk thread. Even if your pet licks or chews the brush, there is no cause for concern. The compact sizes also double as clothes brushes for cashmere and wool; the large size can be used on carpets and tatami mats.

How to Use
Stroke gently along the direction of the coat. Use fingers to remove any fur caught in the bristles after use. When brushing around the face, move slowly and take care to avoid contact with the eyes.

Care and Storage
Do not press the brush against hard edges or step on the bristles to dislodge fur — this damages the tips and reduces effectiveness. Store the brush with bristles facing upward, either hung or rested against a wall. Keep in a well-ventilated, cool area away from moisture.
