Aji Stone Vase – Handcrafted in Japan from the World's Finest Granite

What is Aji Stone?

Aji Stone is a rare and highly esteemed granite found exclusively in the northeastern region of Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture, Japan. Known for its exceptional density and refined grain, this stone is prized for both its durability and natural beauty.

With a Mohs hardness rating of 7—comparable to quartz—Aji Stone surpasses most decorative stones in strength (for comparison, marble ranks at 4). Its tightly bonded fine particles enable precise and delicate craftsmanship. Moreover, its low moisture absorption makes it highly resistant to weathering, ensuring long-lasting quality.

Handcrafted by Japanese Artisans

Due to the stone’s remarkable hardness and density, working with Aji Stone requires a high level of expertise. In its place of origin, specialized artisans handle each stage of the process—from quarrying and cutting to polishing, engraving, and shaping. Their generational craftsmanship brings out the full character of the stone, transforming it into a piece of functional art.

A series of vases resembling cacti due to the vertical carvings. The different sizes in conjunction with the rough vertical lines create a charming space that can surely soften the atmosphere of any room.
