Color

The brightly colored scarf is made of “silk habutae,” a material with beautiful luster and a supple texture

This large rabbit-patterned scarf was designed by KANSAI YAMAMOTO, one of Japan's leading fashion brands.

The hand screen-printed "rabbit" design is a new rendition based on the rabbit motif used in David Bowie's stage costume "Inaba no Shirousagi," designed by Kansai Yamamoto.

The scarf is crafted by Maruka Co., Ltd.  in Yokohama, where many processes are delicately and meticulously carried out by skilled artisans. The printing technique, called "hand-screen printing," uses stencils to carefully apply color paste one shade at a time, ensuring an even and consistent dyeing process.

This results in intricate and delicate patterns with a beautifully sharp finish and rich, deep colors. Additionally, the edges of the scarf are rolled by skilled artisans using their fingertips, and each stitch is sewn with a technique known as "hand-rolling," giving the scarf a rounded, three-dimensional finish.
