Wind-resistant vinyl umbrella · Imperial household gift · White Rose · Est. Edo period
Nearly 300 years of umbrella making
White ROSE is a long-established Japanese umbrella maker with a history stretching back to the Edo period — and the world's first company to develop the transparent film umbrella. Their vinyl umbrellas combine refined functionality with quiet elegance, and have attracted attention from customers outside Japan for exactly that reason.

Miyabi — elegance and lightness in one
An Imperial Household gift
In 2010, Enmusubi Miyabi was selected as a gift to the Imperial Household of Japan — and used by Empress Michiko at the Imperial Garden Party held that year. It is White ROSE's highest-prestige model, and the recognition speaks to what the umbrella actually is: a functional object refined to the point of formality.
A structure engineered for wind
The umbrella's most distinctive feature is its patented valve system — a series of small openings in the canopy that allow trapped wind to escape from the inside out. This prevents the umbrella from inverting in strong gusts, reducing the strain on the frame and the person holding it. Particularly effective in urban environments where wind direction is unpredictable, and in open areas prone to sudden squalls. The vents are virtually invisible from the outside and do not allow rain through — the canopy remains fully waterproof in use.
Superior clarity through multilayer film
While most vinyl umbrellas use PVC (polyvinyl chloride), White ROSE uses a polyolefin multilayer film — thicker, clearer, and more durable. The result is a transparency that reads as considered rather than cheap, and a surface that holds up over time.
Maple wood, hemp-leaf pattern, and a tassel
Enmusubi Miyabi — meaning "elegant bond" — is the flagship model in the White ROSE lineup. The canopy edge and umbrella sleeve are finished with a lustrous fabric woven in a traditional hemp-leaf (asanoha) pattern, a geometric motif associated in Japan with steady growth and good fortune. The shaft is wooden rather than aluminum, giving the umbrella a warmer hand and a more considered weight distribution. The handle is natural maple wood, shaped into a traditional curved form. A small tassel completes the detail.

Natural maple wood handle
At 11.3 oz (320 g), it is notably light for a formal umbrella — the fiberglass ribs contribute to this without compromising strength. At 37.0 in (94 cm) canopy diameter and 34.3 in (87 cm) in length, the proportions suit both daily use and occasions that call for something more formal. Works equally well with Western dress or traditional Japanese attire.

Care
Do not wipe water droplets from the film with cloth — this may cause fine scratches and reduce transparency. Instead, open the umbrella and allow it to air dry in the shade.
The inner binding cords (8 cords visible inside the canopy) connect the ribs to the film and maintain structural integrity — do not cut or remove them.
The safety runner allows the umbrella to open and close with minimal force — slide it up and down rather than forcing the canopy open.
The multilayer film is less flexible than fabric; some resistance when opening and closing is normal.
