Restoring Fabric the Way Tailors Once Did
Your favorite garments deserve to be worn beautifully for years to come. Over time, fabric surfaces develop fuzz or lint that dulls their appearance. Historically, Japanese tailors finished garments with a broom before handing them to customers — a gesture that restored the cloth's natural texture and luster. Takakura Kogei's head craftsman describes this as "resetting" the fabric: not removing, but realigning.

What Makes the Nambu Broom Different
Most clothing brushes have uniformly trimmed bristles, requiring firm pressure to reach into fabric. The Nambu broom's bristles are left uneven — they naturally adapt to the surface of a garment, lifting debris without force. Made from broomcorn, the broom also generates far less static than synthetic alternatives, so dust and hair do not cling back to the bristles. The result is a tool that is safe for cashmere, formal wear, and fine wool, leaving surfaces smooth and subtly lustrous.

Naturally Dyed Organic Silk — Three Years in Development
The handle wrapping began as a response to customer feedback: people wanted a broom free of synthetic materials in any area that contacts the hand. Takakura Kogei worked with artisans across Japan for three years to develop a naturally dyed, organic silk thread — vibrant in color, gentle in feel, and made entirely from natural materials.

How to Use and Care for the Broom
Use light wrist movements and gently flick the bristles across the fabric — no pressure needed. Sweep in alternating directions to prevent bristle fatigue. Do not strike the broom against hard surfaces, force it into narrow gaps, or trim the bristles. If the bristles become dirty, rinse gently with lukewarm water or mild detergent and dry thoroughly in the shade (avoid washing during humid periods). When not in use, hang by the cord or store upright with bristles facing up.

A Nambu clothing broom is more than a garment-care tool — it is a sustainable, beautifully crafted companion that helps you cherish your clothing for decades.
