A rim plate from NAOKO HATA CERAMICS, defined by a chain motif around the edge. The matte glaze finish was chosen deliberately — "I use a matte texture so that the rim design shows up better when the light hits it," says Hata. The result is a plate that holds its own quietly on the table, bringing out the color of the food without competing with it.

Available in two sizes and 7 colors. The S size works well as a dessert plate or for sharing; the L size suits main dishes such as salads and pasta.

NAOKO HATA CERAMICS
Founded by ceramic artist Naoko Hata from Mie Prefecture. Her works are made using traditional techniques, but the textures and colors that emerge from her own glaze formulations are entirely her own. For the Chain dish, she created an original plaster mold, paying careful attention to the thickness of the chain design on the rim. Each piece passes through molding, drying, firing, glazing, and a second firing. The back side is then finished by hand to add height and ease of use.
