Mugs from the Melt series by NAOKO HATA CERAMICS — defined by glaze that runs from the rim and vivid colors that shift the mood of a table. The dripping forms in the kiln, making each piece an unrepeatable result of temperature and time.

The large size features a slightly constricted body and a generous handle — well suited to a full cup of coffee or tea. Available in 7 colors, the mixed-glaze finish varies from piece to piece, giving each mug its own presence on the table.

NAOKO HATA CERAMICS
Founded by ceramic artist Naoko Hata from Mie Prefecture. Her works are made using traditional techniques, but the textures and colors that emerge from her own glaze formulations are entirely her own. "I was researching every day to see if I could create something unique in terms of glaze and color while retaining the texture of the pottery," she says. "For a potter, mixing glazes is a process of finding her own recipe. Researching glazes is still part of my life's work." There is no right answer — and she continues to look for new ones.
