Fifty years of small-object woodwork in Asahikawa
Comfy Shoehorn is made by SASAKI, a wood-craft manufacturer founded in 1976 in Asahikawa, Hokkaido — a city long known as one of Japan's centers for furniture and wood-product making. SASAKI marked its 50th year in business in 2026. Rather than large furniture, the company specializes in small wooden objects, a category that demands the fine handwork of an artisan combined with the precision needed to make many pieces consistently — a balance SASAKI has spent five decades refining.
Designed by Tadahito Ishibashi
The shoehorn's quiet, upright silhouette comes from designer Tadahito Ishibashi, who went independent in 2005 after working as an in-house designer for a consumer electronics maker. His work has been recognized with multiple Japanese design awards, including the Good Design Award, and favors this kind of restrained, function-first form.
Two lengths, depending on how you get dressed
Choose Regular (72cm) if you put your shoes on standing up, or Short (52cm) if you'd rather sit — on an entryway bench, a stool, or a chair by the door. The Short size is also available as the blade alone, without the stand, for anyone who already has a place to keep it. Either way, the horn's rounded handle is sized to sit comfortably in the hand, and the blade is polished smooth so it won't catch on socks or stockings.

Care
Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth. The urethane finish resists everyday moisture, but avoid soaking the wood or using harsh cleaners. Keep out of direct sunlight for long periods, as it can gradually fade the wood tone. As a natural material, grain and color will vary slightly piece to piece — this variation is part of solid wood, not a flaw.
