Kirishima Kiriko Cut Glass ・ Black Goblet ・ Kagoshima, Japan

01 Powerful and beautiful — an original black kiriko goblet designed for Go-One
02 Use it as drinkware, a candle holder, or a vase — however you choose
03 Kirishima kiriko, a style of Satsuma kiriko that demands an especially high level of skill

A jet-black goblet with many ways to enjoy it

This Kirishima kiriko goblet has a commanding weight and a jet-black brilliance unlike anything else.

It can be used not only for drinks, but also as a candle holder or a vase — how you use it is entirely up to you.

We especially recommend it as a candle holder, where the kiriko cuts come alive. Place a tea light of your choice inside, and let yourself be drawn in by the flickering flame and the Kirishima kiriko glinting differently from every angle.

There are two motifs: CROSS, featuring a cross design, and ANTIHERO, inspired by the image of a dark hero.

Strength and delicate beauty live side by side in this art piece, one you will not find anywhere else. We hope you will discover your own way to enjoy it.

Black kiriko: seven months of work, even for a master

Satsuma kiriko is made in Kagoshima Prefecture and, alongside Edo kiriko, is one of Japan's best-known cut glass traditions. Its signature is bokashi, a soft gradation of color created through the cutting technique. Kiriko artisan Tsutomu Deshimaru set apart Satsuma kiriko with especially demanding detailed work as his own style: Kirishima kiriko.

Satsuma kiriko is usually cut from the outside while the artisan looks through the colored glass from the inside. With other colors, the guide lines drawn on the outside show through when held to the light. Black glass does not let light through, so it is said to demand exceptional skill, experience, and instinct.

This goblet is an entirely original design for Go-One. Even with Deshimaru's skill, it took around seven months to complete — a true labor of devotion.
