This handmade Hagi ware guinomi sake cup is the work of 10th-generation artisan Zenemon Sakakura. Finished with gold or platinum powder hand-painted over the glazed surface, the cup catches and reflects light from every angle — even in dim settings.

Each cup is individually handcrafted using traditional Japanese pottery techniques. After glazing, gold or platinum powder is applied by hand. A second firing burns off the resin, leaving a delicate metallic film fused with the ceramic body — a signature of this process.

Natural kannyu (crackling) adds subtle texture and character, while visible brushstrokes and tonal variation make each cup distinctly its own. The base is left uncoated to highlight the raw ceramic texture, offering an elegant contrast to the luminous surface above.
