Temari — traditional Japanese handballs once played with by aristocratic women — are the starting point for this scented object. Sanuki Kagari Temari has applied the same hand-winding technique to create temari designed for the interior: small, fragrant, and quietly present in a room.

This set contains 9 temari arranged in 3 color gradations, housed in a paulownia wood box. Each ball is wound from cotton thread dyed with plants and trees, over a core of rice husks and high-quality natural incense ingredients. Six color options are available — blue (indigo), red (madder), yellow (kariyasu), reddish purple (cochineal), purple (logwood), and green (kariyasu).

The fragrance is specially formulated using only natural ingredients by Yamadamatsu Kobokuten, a long-established incense house in Kyoto. The scent can typically be enjoyed for over one year. Place the temari in an entrance, a room, or a closet to gently transfer the fragrance to clothes and linens.

Each temari is wound entirely by hand — cotton thread wrapped around the core to form a true sphere of consistent size, guided only by the sensitivity of the maker's hands. The gradation deepens with each stitch.
