Bentwood Money Clip — Crafted by STORIO, Niigata

01 20 g, 1 mm at its thinnest — solid wood bent to the limit of the material
02 Staggered card slots reduce IC read errors — clip avoids the chip
03 Maple, walnut, or zelkova — each piece varies in grain

1 mm of Wood, Holding Your Cards
At its thinnest point, this money clip is 1 mm — solid wood, not veneer. The single-piece bentwood construction uses no joints, shaped by exploiting the natural plasticity of Japanese maple, walnut, or zelkova sourced domestically. Precision machined to 0.1 mm, it weighs 20 g and sits flat in a back pocket. The result challenges what most people expect from a wooden object: something this thin, this light, and this strong.

Three Details That Make It Work
Curved form — the gentle arc holds cards securely without a clasp, maintains pressure evenly, and keeps a clean silhouette in the pocket.

Staggered slots — up to three cards sit at a 5 mm offset from each other, making them easy to insert, identify, and retrieve, while also reducing the chance of IC chip interference between cards.

Clip position — the stainless steel clip is placed precisely to hold cards without making contact with the IC chip area, so contactless payment works as expected.

Wood varies. Each piece has its own grain, tone, and surface — no two are identical.
