Hand Grip — Bent-Wood by STORIO, Niigata
One Piece of Wood, Bent to the Limit
Most hand grips are plastic or rubber, shaped by molds. This one is a single piece of solid wood — beech or Itaya maple sourced from Japan's snow-mountain forests — bent into form using a technique that exploits wood's natural plasticity. No joints, no glue lines. The result is a seamless curve that most people assume is impossible in wood. Machined to 0.1 mm precision, it is thinner and more flexible than conventional bent-wood construction allows.
The Rebound Is Different
With approximately 5 kg of resistance and no cushion material between hand and wood, the grip returns force directly — a clean, springy rebound that synthetic grips cannot replicate. The water-repellent finish keeps the coating minimal, so the natural texture of the wood remains fully present. Once you try it, the feel becomes hard to put down.
Exercise That Lives on Your Desk
Most exercise equipment gets put away. This one doesn't need to be. At 85 g and with the quiet presence of a wooden object, it sits naturally on a desk without creating visual clutter. The design is intentional: something you'll leave out, reach for without thinking, and use without disrupting your space or your day.
