When the light is off, Bloom reads as a three-dimensional object — layered walnut petals arranged in a form that suggests a flower opening. When the light comes on, what was solid becomes translucent: soft light filters through the gaps between the petals, filling the room gradually rather than flooding it. The quality of light that comes through wood is different from what comes through glass or fabric — warmer, more directional, more alive.

Each petal carved from solid walnut, one at a time
The shade is built from individual petals — each one cut from solid walnut by hand, shaped into a curve, and layered to form the complete silhouette. Because the carving is done by hand, each petal carries a slightly different curve. No two Bloom shades produce exactly the same pattern of light and shadow. The grain of the walnut, visible when backlit, adds another layer of variation — the wood's own markings become part of the light.

Walnut that deepens over time
Walnut is dense, impact-resistant, and naturally oiled — its surface responds to time and handling, shifting from a warm medium brown toward something richer and more complex. When lit from within, the grain becomes more present and more expressive than it appears in ordinary light. Because the wood is natural, no two shades share the same tone or pattern. What you receive is the only one of its kind.
